1:1 Computer Initiative

Florence County School District Three recognized the importance of students using computers and made the investment to purchase Dell Chromebooks for each student enrolled in one of its New Tech Schools.

Beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, students were issued a Dell Chromebook to use throughout the school day.

Students use the Chromebook to conduct research, collaborate with team members to complete projects, to make videos, and to prepare for state testing.

On the topic of computers, Principal Kristi Anderson said, "It's simply another tool in a teacher's arsenal. The computer does not take the place of the teacher. When used effectively, it enhances the learning and educational experience of a child. Although society believes we're dealing with a generation of digital natives who have grown up with daily access to technology and the internet, the bottom line is we're still dealing with students who need intentional instruction in how to properly use technology."
